Abaco Islands holidays Vacation rentals - luxury villas, condos & holiday homes to rent

The main Abaco Islands are Great Abaco and Little Abaco although the chain is a collection of a further 120 stunning islets, cays and beaches. They sit 150 miles east of, and roughly parallel to, the area running from Palm Beach to Miami and are the most northerly islands of the Bahamas.

With all the cays and tiny islands, sailing is extremely popular here which explains the high number of marinas boasting luxury motor boats and yachts. Many of these island gems are uninhabited so there is every chance, whilst doing some island hopping, that you will be the only people there to explore their breathtaking beauty.

Whilst there is the option of doing absolutely nothing apart from chilling out on a deserted beach, Great Abaco, is home to the main towns of Marsh Harbour, the bustling capital and Treasure Cay. Here you will find shops, superb restaurants, bars and lively nightspots.

Some of the popular beaches include...

  • Ocean beach at Treasure Cay
  • Tahiti beach on Elbow Cay
  • Sugary beach, Cocoa Bay
  • Pelican beach near Marsh Harbour
  • Guana Cay
  • Gilliam beach near the town of Green Turtle Cay

After a day on the beach or sight seeing, the ideal way to end the day is to return to your own condominium or villa rental, light up the BBQ, watch the sun go down and dine under the stars.

The Abacos Islands are an all year round destination with a tropical climate and average summer temperatures of high 80s°F dropping to the mid 50s°F during the short winters. The position of the Abacos islands means they experience the same weather as southern Florida and are prone to hurricanes from July to November. The heaviest rains are normally between late May and October which coincides with the hot and humid summer months.
